Strathglass and the Glens are home to many birds of prey such as the Buzzard, Kestrel, Red Kite and Sparrowhawk. Visitors often see these birds during their stay with us. Occasionally you might spot Golden Eagles or perhaps an Osprey fishing in the River Glass by the farm. There is also a thriving population of smaller birds, both resident and summer visitors to this part of the Highlands. Crested Tits and the Scottish Crossbill are well worthy of mention. At last count there were over 80 species of bird resident in the area.

It is very unlikely that you will visit us and not see red deer whether on our doorstep or perhaps slightly farther away. Glen Cannich in particular, being a little more isolated than the other glens, is an ideal place to view red deer throughout the year. We also have roe and sika deer in the immediate area.

In recent years we have seen increases in the populations of both Pine Marten and the Red Squirrel. As our picture shows Pine Martens are particulary particularly friendly when food is on offer! Foxes are also frquent visitors.

The banks of the River Glass host several Badger setts while their numbers have increased in other parts of the area also.
